Katie Delmez, organizing curator of the retrospective Carrie Mae Weems: Three Decades of Photography and Video, will trace the evolution of Weems’s artistic career since she first picked up a camera at the age of twenty one and realized its potential as a tool for reform. Ms. Delmez will explore how Weems’s artistic practice addresses an array of issues surrounding social justice, power paradigms, and historical correctiveness that resonates with audiences of all backgrounds.
