Derek Lorin
Derek is a jazzy-pop artist and singer/songwriter. He writes his own music and accompanies himself on the ukulele. Derek has abandoned his heavily-produced pop music and stripped down to a raw, solo performance accompanying himself on his ukulele. He mixes his own signature blend of acoustic-based pop music with a sprinkling of jazz influence.
In Derek’s solo ukulele concerts, you’re going to hear Derek’s original music, a selection of jazz standards from the Great American Songbook and a large selection of Beatles cover songs. Derek constantly hones his songwriting skills in the live venues and you’ll hear some vocal and lyrical improvisation, some playful tongue-in-cheek approaches to popular songs, and some outright tomfoolery. Derek Lorin has a high, clear voice often compared to Kenny Loggins and Paul Simon. You’ll hear the influence of Paul McCartney and the Beatles in his voice and music.
