The Bernice and Joel Gordon Contemporary Artists Project (CAP) Gallery
Submitting an exhibition proposal for the Gordon CAP Gallery
Artists are invited to submit their work for consideration for an exhibition in The Bernice and Joel Gordon Contemporary Artists Project (CAP) Gallery. Adjacent to the Ingram Gallery on our main level, this suite of galleries ranges from 1,000–1,800 square feet of available space. The CAP Gallery is dedicated to presenting the most dynamic and stimulating art of our times from around the world.
In preparing and submitting a proposal for an exhibition at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, artists are encouraged to include the following:
1. A brief artist’s statement and resume, as well as copies of reviews, essays, or articles about the work. A link to the artist’s website is an appropriate alternative;
2. An indication of special installation/equipment requirements;
3. Professionally made photographic images or video documentation of the works proposed for exhibition (or, in the case of a proposal for work not yet completed, works that are similar in nature); include dimensions, medium, date, source of the work.
Proposals are accepted throughout the year. The submissions may be digital; in hard copy; or as a CD or DVD. If digital, please indicate the following in the subject line: “Gordon CAP Gallery artist submission.” The curatorial committee will respond within a reasonable time after having received a proposal to advise the artist that there is either 1) interest in further discussion about the project; 2) a willingness to retain the proposal for future consideration; 3) a decision to decline to offer an exhibition.
We are currently considering proposals for 2019 and 2020.
