High School Students
Career Exploration Fair
The Frist Center hosts a booth at the Metro Nashville Public Schools Career Fair each year that allows students to sample the many career paths that can be found within a museum such as: education, design, marketing, curatorial, operations, and development. Stop by our booth and visit us!
Job Shadow opportunities are offered at this time only to our partnering schools: Antioch High School, Hillwood High School, Nashville School for the Arts, Hume-Fogg High School, and Big Picture High School, and are based on the availability of staff in the following areas: education, design, marketing, curatorial, operations, and development. The six-hour (one day) shadow experience allows students to experience one-on-one time with a key staff member, an introduction to the many jobs that fit into the larger framework of operating a museum, and a 21st Century Skills-based museum exploration activity.
Interim experiences are available for high school students conducting interim between January 5th and February 1st. Students will be placed in the Education Department, shadowing various staff members as they work on a variety of programs and projects. Interims are limited to five six-hour days.
One-on-one Capstone support, “My 10-Year Plan” mapping, research assistance, and mentorship is available for topics related to art, art history, careers in the arts, and is offered on a limited first-come, first-served basis.
Service/ Work-Based Learning
Students are invited to participate in the Frist Center’s volunteer program. All volunteers must be at least 15 years of age, are required to complete an online registration form, pass a background screening, sign a non-harassment agreement, and commit to a minimum of 32 hours of service.
