We are thrilled to kick off the 2024 season of Frist Fridays—a reimagined series of art and music parties featuring DJ sets, one-night-only art activations, after-parties, and more!
Join us Friday, May 31, for the inaugural event celebrating the opening of Lee Alexander McQueen & Ann Ray: Rendez-Vous. Dress to impress for a fun and fashionable rendezvous at the Frist!
Martin ArtQuest is looking super stylish with new stations inspired by our upcoming Lee Alexander McQueen & Ann Ray: Rendez-Vousexhibition! We are thrilled to present 12 never-before-seen design sketches by McQueen that serve as prompts for guests to create looks for their own spring/summer ’24 collection using sketches and fabrics. The drawing in the round station features our mannequin glamorously dressed in a McQ line garment with a headpiece inspired by the designer’s elaborate creations. Other exhibition-focused activities include dress-up magnets, a photo framing exercise, and books about fashion and friendship.
This year’s Art in the Atrium project is devoted to the work of Nashville-based artist Shabazz Larkin. In association with the exhibition Monuments and Myths, a large-scale adorned pillar made from a salvaged tree is installed in the Upper-Level bridgeway. The pillar is Larkin’s interpretation of the Nkisi Nkondi statuette tradition developed by the Kongo people of Central Africa.
Please consider supporting the Frist Art Museum with a donation. Your gift is essential to our mission of serving the community through the arts and art access in particular. We truly appreciate your generosity.
